Flint Hills Resources to Build Second Company-Owned Solar Installation to Power Corpus Christi Refinery
Company Continues Commitment to Renewable Energy with New Solar Project
Flint Hills Resources, an energy company based in Wichita, Kansas, announced today that it will be building its second company-owned solar installation to help power its Corpus Christi West refinery in Texas.
The new solar installation will be located on approximately 53 acres of land adjacent to the refinery and is expected to generate enough electricity to power about 20% of the refinery's needs.
The project is believed to be the second largest utility-scale solar complex in the Corpus Christi area and is expected to be completed in 2024.
"This project is a significant step forward in our commitment to reducing our environmental footprint and increasing our use of renewable energy," said Jeff Ramsey, president and CEO of Flint Hills Resources.
"We are excited to continue to invest in solar energy and believe that this project will have a positive impact on our business, our community, and the environment."
The new solar installation is part of Flint Hills Resources' broader commitment to sustainability. The company has set a goal of reducing its greenhouse gas emissions by 30% by 2030 and is investing in a variety of renewable energy projects to achieve this goal.
