19th Asian Games Medal Standings
China Dominates, India Impresses
The 19th Asian Games, held in Hangzhou, China from 23 September, concluded with China dominating the medal standings. China won a total of 389 medals, including 165 gold medals, 125 silver medals, and 99 bronze medals. Japan finished second with 150 medals (52 gold, 69 silver, and 29 bronze), followed by South Korea with 103 medals (39 gold, 44 silver, and 20 bronze). India finished eighth with a total of 107 medals (28 gold, 38 silver, and 41 bronze).
India's performance at the Asian Games was its best ever. The country won more medals than ever before and finished in the top 10 for the first time. India's gold medal tally was also its highest ever. Some of India's top performers at the Games included Neeraj Chopra (gold in javelin throw), Bajrang Punia (gold in wrestling), and PV Sindhu (bronze in badminton).
The 19th Asian Games were a major success for China, which hosted the event for the first time. The Games were well-organized and featured some of the best athletes in Asia. The medal standings reflect the dominance of China in Asian sports and the growing strength of India.
