Borussia Dortmund Defender Signs Five Year Deal

Mats Hummels Completes Transfer to Bayern Munich

Borussia Dortmund Defender Signs Five-Year Deal

MUNICH, Germany (AP) - Germany defender Mats Hummels has completed his transfer from Borussia Dortmund to Bayern Munich. The 27-year-old Hummels signed a five-year deal that runs through June 2021.

Hummels Returns to Bayern

Hummels, who played for Bayern from 2008-2016 before joining Dortmund, is a key component of Germany's national team. He was part of the team that won the World Cup in 2014 and has made over 50 appearances for his country.

Hummels is expected to be a key part of Bayern's defense next season. He will join a team that also includes Jerome Boateng, Joshua Kimmich, and David Alaba.

Dortmund to Receive Significant Transfer Fee

The transfer fee for Hummels is believed to be in the region of €35 million. Dortmund is reportedly set to receive a significant portion of the fee, as Hummels had a release clause in his contract.

The move is expected to be a blow to Dortmund, who have already lost Henrikh Mkhitaryan to Manchester United this summer. However, the club is expected to receive a significant amount of money for Hummels, which they can use to reinvest in the squad.
